Kokonor Lake is the laggest inland salt lake in China,which is one of the highest lakes in the world.It was called "West Lake" in acient time.It is called "Kokonor"in Mongolian and Cowenbu in Tibetan,which all mean "blue sea".
The fantastic scenery of Kokonor attract thousands of tourests each year.In summer, the vastly-expanding greenish water,blue sky,white clouds,green grass and yellow seed flowers woven into a splendid panaroma.
In spring,thousands of diffrent kinds of birds come back to propagate on the Bird Island on the northwest part of the Lake.
The Lake covers an area about 4,583 sq km,and is about 3,195m above sea level.
